Exercise after stroke

A careful return to movement and activity.

The right exercise starting point varies from person to person. Spark Rehab keeps sessions individual, purposeful and guided by the advice of the person’s healthcare team.

What sessions may include

Depending on the person and their medical guidance, a session may include supported strength work, balance practice, mobility or movements connected with everyday life.

There is time to rest, ask questions and adapt the session if fatigue or confidence changes on the day.

Meaningful goals

Goals can be small and practical: standing with more confidence, walking a little farther, managing a familiar task or returning to an activity the person values.

Progress is reviewed without rushing or comparing one survivor with another.

Safety first

People should follow the recommendations of their stroke team and healthcare professionals. Spark Rehab screens suitability before exercise begins and does not diagnose conditions or replace clinical rehabilitation.

Important: Spark Rehab works alongside medical and rehabilitation teams. It does not replace medical care, physiotherapy or emergency services. Call 999 for new or suspected stroke symptoms.
